Hospitality members at Hilton Airport Halifax gain first contract – UFCW 864

Halifax, N.S. – April 26, 2019 – UFCW Canada Local 864 members working at the Hilton Garden Inn Airport Halifax hotel have ratified a first collective agreement which includes wage gains of up to 15% over the term of the contract.

The hotel is located just minutes away from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The new members work as room attendants and in laundry services.

In addition to wages increases, some of the other gains include:

  • increased paid vacation days
  • additional paid sick days and holidays
  • a formal grievance procedure
  • enhanced job security

 “Congratulations and thank you to the membership and committee at the Hilton Airport Halifax for their resolve to gain a strong voice and a good first contract,” says Mark Dobson, president of the UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council. “We are grateful to welcome the new members to the UFCW Canada family and we look forward to working with the membership to ensure and build on their gains.”

The new members at the Hilton Garden Inn Airport Halifax join hundreds of UFCW members working in the hotel and hospitality sector across the Atlantic region.
