UFCW Canada EPC Employment Advisory – Halifax Office – Analyst/Researcher Office Support

UFCW Eastern Provinces Council is looking to hire an Analyst/Researcher Office Support for the Eastern Provinces Council and is calling for applications. This is a full-time position.

The Analyst/Researcher Office Support will be assigned a wide range of clerical office duties, research and related assignments and will have demonstrated skills and experience in the following areas:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Willingness and ability to fluently read, speak, spell and understand English (French is an asset)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of administration and clerical procedures

  • Proficient knowledge of all basic computer programs, such as: Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook etc.

  • Approachable, supportive team player with a strong sense of urgency

  • High initiative and willingness to learn

  • Strong organization skills, excellent time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Post secondary diploma/certificate in a field requiring significant quality in written composition work

  • Knowledge of and experience with the labour movement

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • Second language abilities would be an asset

  • Physical and mental ability and willingness to perform the functions of the job as directed

  • Willingness and ability to sit and stand intermittently throughout the entire work day as the needs of the job require

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to all office and field staff

  • Addresses incoming phone calls, e-mails, and in-person inquiries promptly

  • Works as part of a collective team and with staff at all levels of the organization

  • Administers and manages inbound/outbound e-mails, faxes, mail, including priority post, packages, courier services, and other correspondence as directed

  • Consistently meets deadlines while maintaining high quality work standards

  • Assists with preparing Local Union mailings, correspondence, reports and other duties as assigned

  • Organizes and maintains office record data and files

  • Presents a positive and professional image of the organization to all office visitors, inquiries and other interactions

  • Analyze and research situations, circumstances and disputes, and the facts leading to the same

  • Prepare reports and develop strategies, arguments and presentations in the relevant subject areas

  • Travel within or to prescribed areas outside of the residential area as required by assignments as directed

  • Make presentations to groups and tribunals and individuals

Salary & Benefits:

The Analyst/Researcher shall be paid such amounts and shall receive such benefits coverage as approved for this classification by the EPC President.

Authorized work expenses, supported by appropriate receipts, shall be reimbursed as approved by the EPC President.
