In a new deal bringing in massive financial gains, members of GFL Environmental in Stellarton, N.S. have voted 100% in favour of ratifying its first collective bargaining agreement.
The new 5-year agreement will bring members a 21.5 per cent compound wage increase over the course of the contract, including a 10 per cent bump in year one.
Members will also receive a $3,000 signing bonus, along with two new paid holidays.
New language has also been added to ensure overtime pay when members are required to work a normal day off due to weather or excess work.
Workers including residential and commercial drivers, along with drivers’ helpers, will have access to increased training and preferential hiring of assistants for the driver positions and a clear pathway for helpers to become drivers through seniority.
In addition, members will also now have access to the formal grievance procedure to handle conflicts with management.
Please join us in congratulating these members!
