After nearly a full calendar year without a collective agreement, UFCW Eastern Provinces Council Local 864 members at ADL Foods, the ADL Butter Plant and the ADL Cheese Plant have agreed on a new three-year agreement.
The contract will bring in more than $500,000 in combined employee retro-pay, pumping a mass amount of money into the western-P.E.I. economy.
In addition, targeted wage increases will immediately bump workers' pay up anywhere from $0.85 to $4.10 in year one, not including targeted shift premiums, compounding seniority or forklift premiums.
A second wage bump of an additional 3 per cent will come into effect on Feb. 16, 2026, with a further increase coming next February.
By the end of the contract, workers will be making between an additional $1.86 to $5.67 per hour, allowing workers greater financial freedom.
Vacation allotment has also increased for senior members with 10 years or more, allowing up to six years to be earned, as well as allowing all sick days to be made available at the start of the year, which can now also be taken without a doctor's note.
Job protection language has also been made to protect against technological changes as well as a concrete storm-day policy to be drafted in the coming weeks.
These changes allow workers to feel secure in their work and no longer fearing missing time for justifiable reasons such as unpredictable sickness or dangers due to weather.
Improvements have also been made to secure block and release programs for maintenance workers and allowing for pro-rated wages to be rolled into regular wages and count towards overtime pay.
We at UFCW Eastern Provinces Council are beyond proud of these members for staying strong within a lengthy bargaining process and are thrilled to see these workers reap the benefits of solidarity.
Bargaining committee members include (from left) UFCW Eastern Provinces Council president Craig Walsh, member Gerald Richard, member Gord Mullins and UFCW Eastern Provinces Council member representative Ryan Waterfield.
Join us in congratulating these workers!
