UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council Local 864 members at Atlantic Beef in Borden-Carleton, P.E.I. have agreed on a new five-year contract with great financial gains!
On top of an $800 signing bonus, members will earn an 18 per cent wage increase over the course of the contract, with some members earning more by being moved up in wage classification.
The final two years of the contract are also protected from Consumer Price Index changes, and wage premiums were put in place for workers who are training new staff.
Employees can now bank unlimited overtime hours, as well as earn double time following a certain amount of Saturday overtime hours.
Members also now have access to three sick days per year, up from having none previously.
Additionally, increases to pension matching were added up to 4 per cent after 5 years and 5 per cent after 10 years.
