Canadian Linen in Newfoundland secures first collective agreement

Big wins are worth celebrating.

As the cost of living continues to rise, workers at Canadian Linen in Mt. Pearl, N.L. are moving forward stronger than ever, ratifying their very first collective agreement with UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council Local 1252.

The 23 members who proudly joined UFCW in May 2025 voted an overwhelming 87 per cent in favour of their first contract, securing a 10 per cent wage increase over four years along with a $100 signing bonus.

Impressively, this agreement was achieved with no concessions, meaning our members did not need to back down on any previously achieved wages or benefits to gain their big wins. A true testament to the strength and unity of the members.

This contract delivers meaningful improvements, including protections around overtime hours, annual footwear allowance, and meal allowances when members are travelling for work.

Most importantly, these workers now benefit from the lasting power of union representation, including a fair grievance procedure, seniority rights, and stronger job security for the future.

Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement by liking and sharing this post and commenting “Congratulations” below to show your support for our members and the power of working together.
