Sysco Foods gets new three-year agreement

Following nine days of bargaining, UFCW Eastern Provinces Council Local 1288P members working at Sysco have ratified a major four-year agreement bringing in financial and quality-of-life changes.

The contract will bring our members an extra 18 per cent wage increase over the course of the contract, with a flat rate $3 per hour increase in year one.

With the New Year around the corner, these increases will bring members an additional $540 per month in year one and $950 per month by the end of the agreement, on top of a $500 signing bonus.

Other monetary gains include the boot allowance growing to $300, the night shift premium jumping to $1.25, freezer shift premium going to $1.15 and language for drivers on B-Trains going up $.60.

Contract language also changed to allow for more employees to take vacation time in peak periods, allow for temporary foreign workers to receive help from the employer when submitting paperwork for permanent residency, and ensuring day-to-day duties are safer for all members.

Help us congratulate our members!
